<description>From compliance to excellence: transforming social responsibility in Bangladesh's RMG sector
Moon, Jannatul Mawa; Azad, T.N. Sonia; Adhikari, Rajib; Faysal, G.M.
The Ready-made Garments (RMG) industry in Bangladesh, which plays a&#13;
crucial role in the country's economy, has experienced substantial expansion&#13;
since its establishment in the late 1970s. Nevertheless, the expansion has&#13;
been accompanied by difficulties in the implementation of social compliance&#13;
management practices, which involve several aspects such as labor rights,&#13;
safety measures, environmental considerations, and regulatory enforcement.&#13;
This study examines the progression of Bangladesh's RMG sector from&#13;
compliance to achieving a high standard of social responsibility. In recent&#13;
times, Bangladesh has developed as a prominent global exporter of garments,&#13;
securing its position as the second-largest in the industry. This article&#13;
provides an overview of the historical backdrop of the RMG business in&#13;
Bangladesh, emphasizing its swift rise and the challenges it has encountered,&#13;
encompassing several incidents. To tackle these difficulties, Bangladesh has&#13;
implemented a range of programs aimed at improving social compliance&#13;
management practices encompassing legislative reforms, international&#13;
collaborations, and business endeavors that seek to protect worker rights,&#13;
advance eco-friendly practices, and fortify the ethical framework of the&#13;
industry. The study additionally examines the impact of consumer awareness&#13;
and the global emphasis on social compliance, which have led to beneficial&#13;
transformations within the sector. Notwithstanding these accomplishments,&#13;
the study underscores the necessity for further measures to guarantee&#13;
sustainability. The recommendations encompass enhancing regulatory&#13;
frameworks, creating transparency, allocating resources toward worker&#13;
training, empowering workers through unionization, enhancing safety and&#13;
building standards, increasing teamwork, and advocating for environmental&#13;
sustainability. By adopting the aforementioned suggestions, the RMG industry&#13;
in Bangladesh can further advance its efforts in effectively managing social&#13;
compliance, thereby safeguarding the well-being of its workforce and&#13;
promoting the long-term sustainability of the sector.

<link>http://182.160.97.198:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1520</link>
<description>Impact of different stitch types on seam strength and seam slippage
Islam, Md. Mazharul; Islam, Md. Nazmul
The durability of seams significantly influences the overall performance of&#13;
garments during their intended use. Seam strength is contingent upon&#13;
multiple factors, encompassing seam type, stitch type, stitches per inch (SPI),&#13;
sewing thread count, fabric strength, and fabric type. However, among these&#13;
factors, the stitch type employed in seam creation holds paramount&#13;
importance. This study aims to ascertain the impact of distinct stitch types on&#13;
both seam strength and seam slippage. In pursuit of this objective, a fabric&#13;
with the following construction (EPI: 186, PPI: 131, Warp Count: 32/1 Ne&#13;
+40D, and Weft Count: 100D + 40D) has been procured. Subsequently,&#13;
samples have been meticulously fashioned according to the EN ISO 13936-1&#13;
method. The seam strength of each sample has been meticulously assessed&#13;
utilizing a seam strength tester. Throughout this study, diverse stitch types&#13;
have been chosen, including lock stitch 301, chain stitch 401, double chain&#13;
stitch 401x2, and overlock stitch 504. The findings encompassing seam&#13;
strength have been extracted from the corresponding equipment.&#13;
Comparative analysis of the findings yielded intriguing insights. This&#13;
proactive approach ensures the production of high-quality apparel items that&#13;
align with performance expectations and uphold the standard of excellence.

Printing in textiles is an important part of designing and embellishing textile&#13;
material either with dyes or pigments in printing paste. This research work&#13;
evaluates the effects of printing with three types of natural and synthetic&#13;
thickeners on the fastness properties of cotton fabric with two different hues&#13;
of pigment. Pretreated cotton knit fabrics were treated for printing. Printing&#13;
was carried out in a flat screen-printing method on the cotton fabrics&#13;
individually and in equal ratios. The printed samples were then assessed for&#13;
bursting strength, colorfastness to washing, colorfastness to rubbing, and&#13;
colorfastness to perspiration. Finally, after analyzing the test results, it was&#13;
established that the properties of the fabrics printed with Zamoprint PT 300E&#13;
synthetic thickener and Tamarind seed powder natural thickener were better&#13;
than those printed with other thickeners. Satisfactory performance was also&#13;
achieved with starch and Lutexal-HIT-Plus thickeners.

<title>Comparative study on different fabric consumption methods of different garments</title>
<link>http://182.160.97.198:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1517</link>
<description>Comparative study on different fabric consumption methods of different garments
Islam, Md. Mazharul; Islam, Md. Nazmul
Contemporary garment enterprises must exhibit remarkable adaptability to&#13;
create diverse styles and types of clothing in response to market demands for&#13;
their survival. Enhanced excellence across all dimensions justifies optimum&#13;
pricing. In competitive marketplace, cost calculation of garment not only&#13;
optimum for net profit generation but also necessary to avoid order rejection.&#13;
During the initial stages of order acquisition, fabric consumption estimates&#13;
must be established using mathematical approximations before actual marker&#13;
creation. Among the two commonly employed mathematical methods for&#13;
fabric consumption, the alignment of specific formulas with particular&#13;
garment types has not been thoroughly analyzed. The aim of this study is to&#13;
identify the most accurate method of fabric consumption for various garment&#13;
categories. For this purpose, six distinct garments have been selected for&#13;
experimentation: two woven shirts (short and long sleeves) and four knit Tshirts (including two set-in sleeve variations with long and short sleeves, and&#13;
two raglan sleeve variations with long and short sleeves). Pattern making and&#13;
grading were executed using specification sheet measurements, followed by&#13;
marker creation utilizing Boke CAD software. Subsequently, fabric&#13;
consumption for all six garments has been compared using 3 fabric&#13;
consumption methods: one marker planning method and two mathematical&#13;
methods. Although the marker planning method is well-established as the&#13;
most accurate means of fabric consumption determination, its usage requires&#13;
pattern and marker preparation prior to production. This limitation&#13;
necessitates the use of mathematical formulas during preliminary stages for&#13;
cost calculations and order processing. Comparative analysis highlights that&#13;
neither mathematical formula is universally suitable for all garment types,&#13;
suggesting that specific formulas should be applied to distinct garments. As&#13;
such, this guideline serves as a valuable industry resource, preventing&#13;
unnecessary fabric wastage caused by misusing mathematical formulas and&#13;
thereby contributing to sustainability efforts.

<link>http://182.160.97.198:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1516</link>
<description>The impacts of LDC graduation on the Bangladesh RMG industry and proposing approaches for long-term sustainability: a review
Moon, Jannatul Mawa
This study explores the effects of Bangladesh's upcoming exclusion from the list&#13;
of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and how that will affect the Ready-made&#13;
Garments (RMG) sector. The graduation of Bangladesh from LDC status in 2026&#13;
will be a crucial step in the socioeconomic development of the nation and will&#13;
support its larger developmental objectives. In order to maintain the RMG&#13;
industry's growth and competitiveness in the post-LDC period, the study&#13;
evaluates the opportunities and challenges presented by this transition and&#13;
suggest ways for doing so. The introduction of the paper places Bangladesh's&#13;
historical path to graduation in a historical context and emphasizes the&#13;
socioeconomic importance of this accomplishment. Specifically focused on the&#13;
impact on trade preferences, preferential market access, and the loss of subsidy&#13;
programs, it tackles the several repercussions of losing international support&#13;
measures (ISMs) upon graduation. The study focuses on the possible risk of&#13;
preference erosion in important export markets, which could have a substantial&#13;
impact on Bangladesh's economy's RMG sector. The study uses a thorough desk&#13;
review of secondary data collected from a variety of sources, including UN&#13;
databases, trade associations, and governmental agencies. The study synthesizes&#13;
key ideas from academic literature, policy documents, and expert perspectives.&#13;
It further emphasizes the requirement for technological advancement and talent&#13;
development within the RMG industry in order to guarantee continued growth,&#13;
improved productivity, and market diversity. The study analyzes several&#13;
obstacles and suggests a number of solutions for successfully navigating the&#13;
post-LDC context. These suggestions include pursuing bilateral and multilateral&#13;
trade agreements, participating in regional trade agreements, diversifying&#13;
export goods, improving technological adoption, and promoting compliance with&#13;
international standards. The report also emphasizes how crucial it is to maintain&#13;
legislative measures for sustainable industrial development, such as the creation&#13;
of backward connection industries. The possibility for Bangladesh to turn&#13;
obstacles into opportunities and achieve long-term economic progress is&#13;
reiterated in the paper's conclusion. By using its assets, overcoming challenges,&#13;
and actively participating in different international forums, Bangladesh will&#13;
accomplish its goal of being a developed nation by 2041. The study offers a&#13;
thorough framework for tackling the various effects of LDC graduation and&#13;
assuring the long-term expansion and competitiveness of the RMG sector.

<title>Influence of optimal spacer size on CVC blended yarn properties at ring frame</title>
<link>http://182.160.97.198:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1514</link>
<description>Influence of optimal spacer size on CVC blended yarn properties at ring frame
Uddin, Md. Nasir; Hawlader, Md. Rashel; Islam, Md. Nazmul; Hossain, Md. Mosharof; Bristy, Sraboni Ahmed; Faysal, G. M.
It is a great challenge for textile spinners to ensure the quality of ring-spun&#13;
blended yarn (CVC) with smooth production. 30 Ne blended yarn (Cotton and&#13;
polyester at the ratio of 60/40) was produced during this research work&#13;
because it is a more frequently used count for blended yarn. Different parts of&#13;
the Ring Frame influence the quality of yarn. Among them, the role of the&#13;
spacer is significant as it controls the movement of fiber during drafting at&#13;
Ring Frame. This study introduced three spacers of different sizes (2.3 mm,&#13;
3.1 mm and 5.1 mm) by keeping the same raw materials and setting&#13;
parameters for mentioned yarn count. Spacer size 3.1 mm showed the&#13;
outstanding properties of yarn in terms of unevenness, imperfections and&#13;
hairiness compared to the other spacer sizes. There is no significant changes&#13;
in the blend ratio for changing the spacer. This work has the potential to&#13;
select the appropriate spacer size (mm) that will help textile technologists&#13;
during decision-making.

<title>Evaluation of physical properties of core spun yarn through variation of core numbers</title>
<link>http://182.160.97.198:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1513</link>
<description>Evaluation of physical properties of core spun yarn through variation of core numbers
Hawlader, Md. Rashel; Hossain, Md. Mosharof; Islam, Md. Nazmul; Murad, Sanaullah; Faysal, G. M.
The core-spun yarn has gained much concern and popularity all over the&#13;
world for having elastic and comfort properties. Draft ratio of the core, the&#13;
number of cores and the type of sheath material are the prime parameters of&#13;
producing core-spun yarn. These parameters influence the physical and&#13;
mechanical properties of the yarn. In this study, the effect of the number of&#13;
core-spun yarn cores was investigated on the yarn's physical and mechanical&#13;
properties. Two types of core-spun yarn were produced: single core-spun&#13;
yarn and dual core-spun yarn. Cotton fibres were used as a sheath, spandex&#13;
monofilament and polyester multi-filament were used in the core. It was&#13;
revealed that dual core-spun exhibits lower unevenness, imperfection and&#13;
hairiness value than single core-spun yarn. In addition, bundle strength of&#13;
yarn was found higher in dual core-spun yarn.

<title>A study of pivot positioning methods for quicksort algorithm</title>
<link>http://182.160.97.198:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1512</link>
<description>A study of pivot positioning methods for quicksort algorithm
Islam, Towhidul; Mostakim, Zahin; Murad, Md. Sanaullah
Traditionally deterministic algorithm for quicksort is used which gives O (n&#13;
log n) running time for an average case and O (n2) for the worst case, where n&#13;
is the number of elements to be sorted. If a randomized approach is used the&#13;
worst-case running time is reduced to O (n log n). The median of three&#13;
approaches for choosing pivot and multi-pivot approach like dual pivot also&#13;
improves the running time. In this paper, we analyze the effectiveness of&#13;
various pivot positioning methods. To achieve this, we take randomized&#13;
generated and shorted array of different sizes which provide us with enough&#13;
data to conclude.
