This book presents lucid treatment of a wide range of issues involved in Operations Management. It emphasises on the analysis and quantitative techniques for the overall role of Operations Management in organisations, which aim at maximising their productivity and profitability. The book further discusses in detail decision-making methodology, design of product, process and production system. Decision-making methodology focuses on economic models and statistical models in Chapter 2. Design of process and product is given in Chapter 6. System and capacity design explained in Chapter 3. The facility location and layout, demand forecasting and materials management helpful to streamline the production activities is included in Chapters 4, 5 and 6. Material requirement planning and aggregate planning required to achieve the forecasted demand, is explained in Chapter 8 and 9. Scheduling and controlling production activities essential for maintaining effective operations are explained in Chapter 10.
